The Mark ∴
Three dots. The minimum geometry required to define a plane. The first stable form in Euclidean space. A triangle that does not announce itself as a triangle.
In formal logic, three dots arranged in this configuration mean therefore. The argument has been made. The conclusion follows. What comes next is what the reasoning produces.
In Freemasonic tradition, the triple dot marks the degree. It is placed after initials to indicate the rank of the person who carries it, the level of the work they have done, the depth at which they operate.
In SYMBOLIKO, the triple dot marks the esoteric register. When you see ∴ before a collection name or a product title, it means: what follows is not decoration. It is meaning. The object carries something. The symbol is doing work.
The Circumpunct
The circle with a point at its center is the oldest surviving abstract symbol in the human record. Archaeologists have found it scratched into stone by Cro-Magnon hands tens of thousands of years ago. It appears in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs as the symbol for Ra: the sun, the source, the thing that gives light without being diminished by the giving.
In Greek cosmology it is the monad: the irreducible one, the point from which all things proceed, the center that does not move while everything else does. Pythagoras and his followers considered it the symbol of the divine source. In Neoplatonic philosophy it is the first emanation, the point of origin before multiplicity.
In alchemical tradition it is the symbol for gold: the metal that does not corrode, that holds its form through every transformation applied to it, that emerges from every process unchanged. Gold is not merely valuable because it is scarce. It is the alchemical symbol of the incorruptible self, the thing in the person that remains itself through everything that happens to it.
The circumpunct is the SYMBOLIKO logo. The ring around the point. The boundary that defines the center by existing around it. The center that is defined by having a boundary around it. Neither exists without the other.
The Name
SYMBOLIKO comes from the Greek symbolikos: of or belonging to a symbolon. The symbolon was a physical object broken in two, each half kept by one party to a relationship. When the two halves were brought together and the join confirmed, this served as proof: these two people are connected. The connection was written into the object. The object was the proof.
Symbolikos means having this quality. Being the material proof of a connection. Being the half that belongs with another half. Being one side of a join whose other side exists somewhere.
Every piece in this collection is made in this understanding. The symbol is not applied to the piece. The piece is the symbol, made wearable.
