Description

Medusa in the oldest stratum of Greek mythological record was not a monster but a guardian. The gorgoneion, the Gorgon head, was placed on shields, temple pediments, coins, and armor as an apotropaic mark: the terrifying face used as protection, something so powerful that its image alone kept harm at a distance.

The later myth that made Medusa a monster to be slaughtered is the Olympian tradition's revision of something older. The original Medusa was the guardian whose gaze turned onlookers to stone, not as punishment but as the natural effect of concentrated divine power on those not prepared to receive it. The stone-making gaze is protection, from the right side of it.

925 sterling silver base. Available in White Gold Plated, Yellow Gold Plated, and Rose Gold Plated finishes. Suspended on a matching chain.

Care

Your piece is made to last a lifetime, but it still deserves a little devotion. Keep it dry, store it away from other metals, and wipe it clean after wear. Small rituals like these are what keep a symbol sharp for years to come.

Design

Every piece begins as an idea worth carrying, then it's shaped, cast, and finished by hand until the symbol feels inevitable. This isn't decoration. It's craft made to mean something.
