Antimony Alchemy Pendant | Wolf of Metals Talisman

Antimony was called the Wolf of Metals by the alchemists because it devoured other metals when combined with them in the furnace, consuming their impurities and leaving what remained purified. The sixteenth century physician and alchemist Paracelsus used antimony compounds medicinally on this same principle — the substance that removes what should not be there by consuming it. The symbol for antimony in alchemical notation is a circle with a cross rising from it, marking the material base from which the purifying force ascends.

In the sequence of the Great Work, antimony appears at the stage of purification that precedes the final conjunction — the operation that removes the last impurities before the fixed and the volatile can unite. It is not gentle work. The wolf does not refine by gentle pressure. It refines by consuming.
