Water in its free form takes the shape of whatever contains it and no shape of its own. In the alchemical tradition, this is the mercury principle: the transmitting, dissolving, receptive element that moves between states and takes on the qualities of what it contacts without losing its essential nature. The droplet form captures the moment of individuation: the point at which water that was part of a larger body separates and becomes a discrete unit, holding its surface tension against the pressure to dissolve back into the whole.

The wax-cast process preserves the organic irregularity of the original form. Each piece is therefore genuinely unique: the form that the material took in that moment, held in silver.
